Sustainable Cashmere Never Looked So Good

Designer Giuseppe Botto Poala, affectionately nicknamed “Pin” by his family, established a woolen mill in 1876 in Valle Mosso in the province of Biella. Skill, craftsmanship and research all converge in the “Pin1876” collection, which offers its own take on contemporary life through the certainty of an authentic and inimitable heritage. In doing so, it is fully aware that preserving tradition also means looking ahead and combining past, present and future in a whirlwind of constantly changing, cross-category aesthetic and technical know-how. These are the origins of the line of accessories produced entirely in the factories of Botto Giuseppe and Cascami Seta, located respectively in Valle Mosso and in Tarcento in the province of Udine.

Crafted of sustainable cashmere gauze, Botto Giuseppe's scarf are finished with frayed edges. The celebrated label is renowned for its custom spinning, weaving, dyeing, and finishing processes, giving its luxurious designs a featherweight soft feel.

“PANAMA STRAW

The process of handweaving Panama Straw requires precision and skill. Each straw hood is woven from natural toquilla straw grown in Ecuador. The fiber is braided into an intricate pattern until a finished hood is produced. The material is sent from Ecuador to our factory where they are shaped and trimmed into finished hats. Each hood is woven by a single weaver and takes anywhere from 8-10 hours to complete the weaving process. Panama straw is weather resistant and provides natural UV protection. It is the choice hat for summer because of it’s lightweight durability. When cared for properly, Panama straw will last a lifetime. Because of the natural fibers, our custom dyed panama colors will transform and change slightly over time. Due to the handwoven pattern and the natural dye, each hat is considered one of a kind. All our hats are made in the USA.”

Craig Wright opened his own weaving production unit in India where his bags are skillfully made. His intricately woven handbags are reminiscent of wicker and reed in varying, natural tones. Each is done in top quality leather meant to soften and age beautifully with time. Frequent use allows for the development of a unique patina, telling a story about the particular bag and on a larger scale, the brand.
